Our Story

I’m Brinda, the founder of Khipi. This project comes from my passion to bring cultural diversity to other’s dinner tables with meals prepared and cooked by immigrant women in your local community. My passion for Khipi came primarily from wanting to help women help other women. According to the Center for American Progress, women take on a disproportionate amount of house-hold labor and childcare after the workday ends. This is even more so the case for low-wage workers, and people of color. The societal expectations for what women have to do in the home means that women have less and less time for themselves and their families. This has only been amplified by Covid-19. By creating an opportunity for one woman to find satisfying work and take pride in their skills and culture, we are also taking some of the work off another woman, creating some equity and balance in these women’s lives.
